Byron Bay Hinterland House

A charming lifestyle relocation was in order for this busy family of six, after relocating to Byron Bay from Sydney's Surry Hills.

Tastemakers figuratively & literally, these clients own and operate their now globally recognised artisan muesli brand. They had a clear creative aesthetic and simple design directive for their new home - make it relaxed, family friendly, and fun. As such, an unpretentious, and family orientated interior was in order for this couple and their four daughters.

Natural entrepreneurs and entertainers, this family wanted to create a home that was welcoming for their regularly visiting family & friends, and convey a feeling of relaxed character.

Their overall desire was that the interior felt lived-in and comfortable, whilst exhibiting a fresh and contemporary aesthetic reflective of their beachside lifestyle. This was achieved through the use of naturally toned materials, contrasting textures, and collected accessories.

The inclusion of a large pool was the perfect addition for this family, and much effort was put towards the exterior area and its role within the homes overall floor-plan. Newly installed interior polished concrete flooring provided a fresh look and contrasted against an exterior of warm toned travertine crazy-pave, creating both interest and whimsy. Ceiling beams were left exposed, and walls were freshened with a crisp white paint.

Accents of vintage furniture are juxtaposed against more modern furnishings to create a "lived in" feel. Colour accents of coral, mustard and teal provide a feeling of natural modern comfort. The clients own collectables were incorporated seamlessly, suggesting a home that felt balanced and unique to them.

For this family, the result is a sea-change home that works on all levels, radiating comfort and individuality.
